Teaching for Understanding in Electronics/Microelectronics by Training CAD Tools

Abstract

The realization of teaching for understanding concepts in electronics/microelectronics studies is considered. Teaching for understanding in electronics and microelectronics is rather pedagogic art than academic work. Significant efforts and inventiveness are required to adhere the "teaching for understanding" concept in these subjects. Inestimable helper for the teacher in this work is the development of the computer-based training systems. The necessity of the open system for teaching purposes is motivated. The basic principles of training system development are suggested. We present circuit design training system “Micro-PC” based on the proposed principles.
