Abstract

The paper discusses an approach of non-contact diagnostics of three-phase power transmission lines. It is based on measurements of the electric field under conductors. Mathematical model is developed, which associates intensity of electric field with geometry and voltages of conductors. The circular disc parallel plate capacitor is used as a sensing device; the data are transmitted to PC for calculations. To estimate parameters of line, the non-linear equation system has to be solved. Different layouts are analyzed, measurements are performed on experimental test-line and on a real power transmission lines.
