An estimation method of system cost, associated revenue and estimated profitability that applies to the broadcasting standards used in digital terrestrial networks is presented. The purpose of this research is to support and promote the adoption of innovative technologies that improve spectrum efficiency and flexible usage. The model presented should help key players to make choice on digital terrestrial broadcasting technologies driven by optimal investment cost and the techno-economic analysis. The results clearly show the early (in realistic multiple-multiplex cases even immediate) profitability of broadcast network if MPEG-4 and DVB-T2 standards are used.
