Investigation of Possibilities of Sound Recognition

Abstract

A possibility of recognizing mechanical, electromechanical and other devices according to the characteristics of noise induced by them is considered. The recognition algorithm can apply two criteria – differences in noise spectra and noise levels. The recognition is performed according to the minimum of these differences. The reliability of both recognition algorithms was tested by trying to recognize one of four identical electromechanical devices. The experiment has shown the recognition reliability to be not less than 96 %. It has been determined that the algorithm of recognition according to the noise level has a lower dispersion of the recognition criterion.
