Structuring Elements for the P300 Event-related Potential Detection
Abstract
The paper presents a method to detect the P300 event-related potential based on its shape. The main tools for this purpose are two morphological operators, the closing and the opening, involving dedicated structuring elements. Several structuring elements were linked to the statistical properties of the signal by means of their parameters and a new aggregate operator was developed. In the end a criterion to detect the presence of the P300 event-related potential was presented.
