Abstract

In this paper an analysis of implementation alternatives of smart electrical power sockets is presented. Smart socket (SSoc) functionality include power measurement, wireless connectivity, and load control. Power measurement uncertainty is defined by SSoc design and calibration. We investigate influence of voltage and current waveforms quantization errors and influence of Hall current sensor noise upon the active power measurement uncertainty. Voltage and current measurement module is calibrated by estimating corresponding gain factors using reference power analyser. Then calibration errors influence upon power measurement errors is studied. SSoc internal power dissipation is analysed by means of alternative power supply modules prototyping.
