Abstract

Factors making influence upon wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) network reliability are researched. Additionally, the optical channel reliability is estimated. Predictable and non - predictable failure models, and corresponding pre - designed protection and dynamic restoration models are under research. Network and its nodes' functional parameters are determined in physical, channel, and network layers. Protection methods, failure allocation and elimination strategies of WDM networks are analyzed. IP access duplication using two connections to the network paths to the same node or to separate nodes are estimated. Analyzing any possible failures, the possible loss of flow is calculated. Reliability performance classes, estimating the failure elimination time are introduced on the basis of reliability quality of the service. Path protection example estimating the restoration time of separate parts are proposed. Ill.3, bibl.8. (in Lithuanian; summaries in Lithuanian, English and Russian).
