Very few progresses were made in the direction of using these systems for real-time speed measurements. One system delivering accurate positioning information for transponders is the RFID Radar system from Trolley Scan. For this system, we developed a software program to compute the speed from the location information provided by the reader and made several performance tests and measurements in various working conditions. The performances obtained for speed measurements are satisfactory for a single transponder or a reduced number of transponders and small speeds, usually bellow 40 km/h.
