Abstract

A system for adaptive control of Hydrogen/Nitrogen (H/N) ratio in ammonia production is proposed. It ensures more accurate, robust control of H/N ratio under varying operating conditions. A short description of the process is presented, and its model based on the first principles is elaborated. The computer simulation tests were performed using software tools created in Matlab (The MathWorks, Inc.) program environment. Simulation results of the proposed adaptive control system performing under extreme operating conditions are presented and compared with the performance of the standard control system.
