Abstract

Nowadays many different software development methodologies (SDM) exist that can be used to optimise and improve software development processes in organisations that deal with software development. However, problem is that these organisations often do not have enough knowledge and experience in the field of SDM to be able to objectively evaluate different SDM and select the one that is suitable for their requirements and expectations. To solve this problem we propose an approach that aids such organisations to determine how suitable different SDMs are for their software development requirements. The application of the approach in a software development company showed that it can notably improve the process of SDM selection in a real-life situation because the process is more transparent and results are more grounded.
