Abstract

There are analysed the possibilities to model the propagation conditions for the radio waves in complex urban conditions. It is shown that due to the serious implications of the intense short-term fading, there is little prospects of establishing analytically precise model. Instead, authors propose to utilise empirical radio waves propagation model. Thereafter, the results of empirical modeling presented, compared with the results of field measurement campaign in the Vilnius city. These measurement results gave authors possibility to improve the proposed model in terms of precision and wider applicability. It is therefore suggested to use the proposed modified model for the field strength prediction in the coverage areas of Base Stations in the Public Land Mobile Services, thus minimizing greatly the amount of time consuming field measurements.
